70’s Icons Than & Now – What We’d Do With Their Faces
I saw an article about female icons in the 1970’s with their then and now photos and was amazed by how great a lot of them look roughly 40 years later. Some of them look like they’ve barely aged at all, proving what I’ve always suspected – aliens live among us.
Many celebrities claim they don’t have cosmetic medical treatments and although I respect their decisions, it can become obvious by the uncorrected aging changes in their faces when they reach their 60’s that they speak the truth.
I understand not wanting to have surgery and I know I’m biased but why not have nonsurgical treatments? Improving just one or two areas can sometimes take 5 – 10 years off a face.
To give you an idea of the differences that these treatments could make, I’ve Photoshopped some of the current photos to illustrate the results I think could be accomplished with our procedures.
- Diane Keaton
Diane Keaton at 74 still has that unique style and personality that not only make her an icon, she seems like a lot of fun to hang around with.
She has beautiful eyes, a great mouth, and good cheeks. She’s obviously not had a lot of Botox or other muscle relaxing treatments, as evidenced by the deep frown lines and crow’s feet, as well as the vertical lines on her lower cheeks, caused by repetitive facial animation. Her Photoshopped “after” picture shows how she could potentially look with:
- First: Laser Resurfacing to at least around her mouth and under her eyes, but preferably to the entire face to remove most of the shallow lines & smooth the crepey lids
- Then:
- Dermal filler to lift out the remaining deeper lines around her mouth, eyes and between her brows
- Dermal filler or absorbable threads to make her nose look straighter
- Dermal filler and absorbable threads to make the jawline look tighter
- Maintenance with Botox-type treatments to prevent the muscle creases from returning and microneedling treatments to maintain healthy, smooth skin texture
- Faye Dunaway
Faye Dunaway in her recent photo looks much younger than 79, especially when she’s wearing makeup. One or two IPL Photodynamic Therapy treatments could remove the blotchy pigmentation to make her skin look as even as it does with makeup.
- Lauren Hutton
Lauren Hutton at 76 is still a beautiful free spirit as well as a busy model. I will always envy her role as Richard Gere’s girlfriend in American Gigolo.
Hutton has never been shy about her disinterest in cosmetic procedures. “I’ve let go that I look like a miniature Shar-Pei. The wrinkles are going to be there and they really are the badges of your life.” She also admits that she never wore sunscreen and only tried Botox once, which has contributed to the shar-pei look.
Years of uncontrolled facial muscle contractions in skin that’s lost elasticity from sun damage has produced deep facial skin creases. Her left brow is lower than the right one and the right corner of her mouth turns downwards more than the left side.
I don’t know how to use Photoshop to make her brow or mouth corner look higher but I think it could be accomplished with an absorbable barbed thread treatment to lift her left brow and dermal filler to lift the right corner of her mouth.
Profractional Laser Resurfacing treatments of the full face would replace the damaged skin with new healthy skin and smooth out the fine lines and blotchy pigment. Step 2 would be using dermal filler to lift out the remaining deeper lines. For maintenance she could help prevent the lines from reforming by having regular Botox-like treatments and microneedling.
- Carly Simon
You can recognize Carly Simon a block away with that famous smile!
At 75, her neck, mouth and the rest of her face look much younger but all those years of smiling have etched lines into the skin of her lower face.
A couple of Plasma Fibroblasting Skin Smoothing or Profractional Laser Resurfacing treatments would remove most of the fine lines and dermal filler could be used to lift the remaining deep lines. Results could be maintained by repeating either of the above treatments yearly along with microneedling.
